DETAILS About 12 miles west of downtown Charleston, this project is on 6,000 acres that once included a Colonial rice plantation. There are fresh and saltwater wetlands, canals, ponds and five miles of a large creek within the site, and more than half the space has been set aside to remain undeveloped. Long-term plans call for about 800 residences when the development is completed in upwards of 10 years. Some of the houses, as well as the town houses, will be constructed by builders in the area, but the majority will be built by owners on sites as large as 100 acres. There will be a town center with shops, restaurants, an inn, a fitness center and a swimming pool, and the more than 30 miles of trails for riding, walking and biking will follow along the canals, which will have places to launch canoes and kayaks. Additionally, a nature center is planned, and crabbing and shrimping lessons will be offered.

Owners will be able to use their units as much as they like, depending on availability. All will have west-facing balconies, Wi-Fi and high-definition TVs in the living rooms and bedrooms. Owners will be offered access to two new Hydra-Sports fishing boats that will be maintained by the development; more boats may be added in the future. Private docks will be available for those with their own boats, and a nearby private marina will also be open to owners. There will be a raw bar in the restaurant. Additional amenities include a swimming pool lined with cabanas, a small artificial beach and a rooftop deck with a plunge pool.
